Nathalie Rey

The Igloo of Barneo, 2019

Nathalie imagines that the search for meaning is a need shared by all human beings, especially by those for whom the circumstances of life have created a space for reflection. The artist's interest in art, both as an observer and a creator, is part of this search. For Nathalie, art revolves around two complementary approaches that consist, on the one hand, of developing a conscious and rational thought able to nourish as rich a discourse as possible, and, on the other hand, of exploring the more random windings of intuition, desire, and personal experience.

For works of art to have meaning, there must be interaction: An isolated idea can neither be explained nor put in perspective. Nathalie believes that the great joy of the artist is to be able to add pieces to their puzzle, to match different interests and intuitions, and in this way, expand the limits of meaning: For me, art represents the possibility of forging links between different areas of knowledge, and this way, finding an order, a meaning.

Nathalie's artworks are like exploring one's own deep subconsciousness. (I. Woldt)
